Who is a Transfer-In Student
You are a Transfer-In student if you attended another college or university and are enrolling at SBCC to continue your education. Your completed coursework may be evaluated for credit toward a certificate or degree at SBCC, toward transfer or to meet prerequisites for classes at SBCC.
- New transfer-in students are not required to meet with a counselor before registration.
Transfer-In Student Checklist
- Transcript Evaluation
- Submit official transcripts from ALL previously attended colleges to Admissions and Records.
- If you attended a California Community College, you can have your transcripts evaluated by the Transcript Evaluation Office (TEO).
- If you need a prerequisite evaluated submit your request to the Transcript Evaluation Office (TEO).
- Registration Dates
- Priority registration for transfer-in students began December 10, 2024. The spring semester began January 27, 2025.
- Academic Counseling Appointments
- New transfers who are taking spring classes can book an appointment in Starfish starting February 3, 2025 (week 2) with a counselor who works with students in your major.
- What to Expect at Your Appointment
Counselors will:
- Create a student educational plan (SEP).
- Start the transcript evaluation process.
- Transcript Evaluation Process
- If you attended a California Community College, your transcripts will be evaluated by the Transcript Evaluation Office (TEO).
- It can take up to 3 months for non California Community College transcripts for specific courses requiring SBCC department review.
Important : For coursework completed outside the California Community College system, providing course syllabi can speed up the process. Math and English courses require syllabi for course evaluation.
